Chapter 17: A brief lead-up to the climax

By: Heather

So there was this thing- this gastly, surprising, unnecessarily over-emphasized thing coming directly toward them over the hill. It was some sort of slow moving blob that could not yet be determined as to what it was. But- being in the driver's seat of the jet, Heather figured that driving directly toward it was a risky manoeuver. So, she pulled off a pretty sweet move that she had secretly been practicing in her spare time which took the jet up, forward and down again in a graceful 3 seconds- leaving them hovering over the blob- which turned out to be a determined collection of antogonists making their way to the caves.

"How could they possibly know where to find us?" Alison said with a puzzled expression on her face.

"...er...well..." mumbled Heather

"What?" cried Emily, "What did you do?"

"Well... I sort of left a message for them in the tunnles to meet us here..." Heather tried avoiding looking directly into Emily's eyes but simply made it seem as though she was staring "somewhere else," so she just continued explaining herself, "...I guess that I just figured that we would have had a plan by now. But- I didn't want to mention anything because I didn't want to pressure anyone..."

Emily looked as though she was about to have the world's largest algae bloom, but instead took a few angel breaths to calm herself down, "Why did you do that? We aren't the least bit prepared! We have no plans! NONE! These settling of scores take preparations you know! -You wouldn't just hop a plane and backpack around Europe! GOSH!"

"...Susanne thought that it was a good idea..." Heather tried to make herself a little less singled out.

Everyone directed their attention to Susanne who looked up in confusion shaking off a dazed, expressionless face, "What's going on?" she questioned.

Suddenly they felt various thuds against the floor of the jet. Everyone rushed to the window. The seniors had spotted them and were pelting the sides of the jet with everything imaginable; purses, walking sticks- one lady was even trying to pepper spray the eyes of the new shark design on the side door.

Heather pulled up the jet out of reach of the seniors and landed it behind the agitated group of brods and gentlemen who were feeling especially cranky to have missed naptime that day.

Alison opened the door to the jet and led the group of Campbellford youth, teen girl squad and Esther to face the antagonists once and for all.
